24-Hour Treasure Coast MAYHEM: Snook, Muttons, Kings & Jacks

There are fishing trips… and then there are fishing marathons.
This one? Definitely a marathon.
We hit inshore, nearshore, and offshore in a single day — chasing everything from snook at sunrise to drag-screaming jacks at sunset — and we didn’t stop moving the whole time.
It was a full-on Treasure Coast beatdown, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Grab the lures that crushed it:

The Game Plan: 3 Zones, 1 Day
We launched before sunrise with one goal: fish all day across three different zones and make every cast count.
-
Inshore: We started around a deep drop-off near the St. Lucie Inlet and jumped on a fat snook bite early. These fish were stacked, and the Mulligan in “Wedding Crasher” was getting absolutely crushed on a ½ oz jighead.
-
Nearshore: As the tide shifted, we headed out to target bonita and kingfish to stock up on bait — and that’s where the 2.0 in “Slam Shady” shined. Brent pitched one out and next thing you know, he’s hooked up to a kingfish on 40 lb leader. No wire. Total chaos.
-
Offshore: After grabbing some bonita for bait, we ran to a deeper wreck and dropped down simple mutton rigs with long fluorocarbon leaders. That’s when things really heated up — we pulled in multiple keepers, dodged a few close calls with sharks, and even had a hammerhead come up to check things out.
What Made This Trip Work
This wasn’t just a lucky day. We planned around the tide, moon phase, weather, and structure — and we used every tool available to stay ahead of the bite.
Here’s what helped us stay dialed in:
-
The Tides App helped us time our drops and find the best feeding windows
-
The Smart Fishing Spots App gave us the exact wrecks, contours, and currents we needed to fish efficiently
-
The Mulligan and 2.0 were the MVP lures of the day — super versatile and super effective in all three zones
Key Takeaways
-
Work with the tide, not against it — the incoming and slowing tides produced the most bites
-
Let your lures work on the fall — both the Mulligan and 2.0 swim great on the drop, which helped trigger reaction bites
-
Cover ground — from snook in tight to muttons in 100+ feet, the variety kept the rods bent all day

Tide and structure were the main factors. Bait and birds seemed to be a non-factor for this trip.
