Scientific Name: Sciaenops ocellatus

Common Aliases: Redfish, Bull Red, Puppy Drum, Channel Bass

Fish Facts: Found in the coastal waters and marshes of the United States, red drum range from Texas all the way up to Massachusetts. These fish can grow up to 60 inches and weigh on average 55 lbs when fully mature. Their diet consists mainly of crustaceans and occasionally baitfish.

Did you know? – Red Drum are named after the “drumming” noise they create by using special muscles that rub against their air bladder.
